The Footchart to Earthquakes

As a final coup-d’état to my Graphic Design class, we did an assignment about Infographics. Infographics about Earthquakes in the last decade.

After an initial period of temper tantrums and hatred for the information (Summation: Not only is this information more or less useless, in that it’s merely saying “LOOK EVERYONE EARTHQUAKES EXIST AND PEOPLE DIE FROM THEM!”, but it’s also not intriguing and a form of catastrophe that I have no relation to whatsoever), I finally had a breakthrough: I don’t need to like this information, I just need to explore something that I do like using this information.

So I decided to explore color and type, which by proxy led me to explore form, in the form of floor tiles (after all, why would you put information about the ground opening up on a wall?). The tiles are 2′x2′, and a 6″x6″ Handkey accompanies the footchart. I’ve put a few of the tiles below.

If you’re going to be in Santa Fe the early part of September, stop by the College of Santa Fe. All of the infographics will be presented in their full scale and glory, possibly in a gallery setting.

And, yes, I do enjoy the phrase “coup-d’état”. Thank you for noticing.

I know you were all expecting a firestarter script for my first production project at CSF, but sadly due to location issues and lack of planning that script fell through. So instead I made this one, Clean Garage. You may have read the original script when I posted it up here a few months or weeks ago, and it didn’t change too much.

X is for X-ray Fish

Also known as the “Golden Pristella Tetra”, the X-ray fish gains its name from the fact that a large portion of its body is transparent. The X-ray fish tends to be a good aquarium fish because of its high adaptability and its tolerance for acidic waters and the fact that it eats many different types of food.

Also known as a type of Golden Tetra.

The X-ray fish is found in the South American Coastal Rivers where the freshwater from the river meets the salted water of the ocean. This is known as an “estuary”, and is also the type of habitat that brackish aquariums tend to try and emulate.

The X-Ray fish has a yellowish tint to it and a prominent dorsal fin. They may grow as large as 22 cm, however their average size is around 5 cm. Male X-ray fish are smaller and thinner than female X-Ray fish, however this is the only prominent difference. When in an aquarium, it is important to keep X-ray fish away from predators and in a large group of six other fish.

So remember how I’m an actor as well? Well, here are some movies I’m in!

This first one is a project Andrew Gingerich and I shot last summer when we were trying to decide on a movie to watch, and instead decided to make this. Remember Skin Removal Cream? Well that was for this same project. Enjoy!

Next is a commercial for Drunk Button, the button that makes you instantaneously drunk! This is apparently for a multi-media play that’ll be showing in Santa Fe in the near future.

And finally… RRRR? That’s on the internet? Well okay, I guess this’ll work I guess. RRRR is from my Sophomore year of High School. It’s about Scrabble and the end of the world and… oranges maybe?

So there. And, no, I’m not a one-dimensional actor. Why would say that? I’M THE GREATEST IN ALL THE WORLD!

A Christmas Card

I decided to take part in an international Mail Art exchange during the month of December. It being December, I decided to use “Christmas” as a jumping off point (something about “Cold, Miserable, and Hopeless” just didn’t seem right), and for me “Christmas” means only one thing: Commercialism and over-sweetening. Two things. I suppose that was two things.

So, I coated a notecard in receipts, then glazed it in honey and baked it in an oven. Here’s what it ended up looking like!

Yes, I sent this to an Italian Doctor.

Fun Fact: Receipts loose their ink when exposed to heat. Also, note the Pirate Gold!
